Annual Used Book Sale (a component of the WV Book Festival)
To help navigate the huge volume of books and audio-visual materials available during this sale (approximately 210 tables) the items are further categorized by subject (See full list of subject categories). A special holding area, which we call the "corral", is available where you can bring books that you intend to buy. This is a staff-only area where items are tallied and boxed as you continue to shop.
This year's sale will be
- Saturday, October 13, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Sunday, October 14, noon to 4 p.m.
The bag sale will be on Sunday only with a bag of books at $2.00 and boxes priced at $5.00 each.

Ongoing Book Sale
Each day, during normal hours of operation at the Main Library, approximately 20 shelves of adult and children's fiction and non-fiction are kept for sale near the check-out desk on the first floor. This sale consists of donations that are in excellent to very good condition. Items are added a least once a week if not more frequently.

Street Fair Used Book Sale June 23, 9 a.m - 4:30 p.m. (held during FestivALL)
This year's annual Street Fair Used Book Sale will take place Saturday June 23, 9 a.m. - 4:30 in the John V. Ray room on the 3rd floor of the Main Library. The Used Book Sale is just one of the many activities offered during the Street Fair, which will be held the last weekend of Charleston's city-wide celebration, FestivALL. Approximately 12 tables of books and audiovisual items, consisting of donations and items withdrawn from the library's collections, are organized into adult fiction, adult non-fiction, and children's sections. There will also be a Collector's Corner featuring a selection specially priced rare and collectible books.
